Primary Goal
Ages 12–17 // Levels 6–7
Develop the complete athlete and prepare the rider for adult competition.
This is where NextGen becomes significantly more intentional.
The rider is no longer simply participating.
They’re beginning to train as an athlete.
Coaches focus on
Personal Development
Leadership
Older youth riders are expected to become examples for younger riders.
They may:
- Help younger riders
- Assist at events
- Demonstrate safety procedures
- Welcome new families
- Participate in community events
Academic Responsibility
Racing doesn’t excuse poor academic performance.
We teach:
Student first. Athlete second.
Riders learn time management between:
School + Training + Racing + Family + Recovery
Communication
Riders learn how to:
- Speak with coaches
- Speak with sponsors
- Speak with officials
- Conduct themselves professionally
- Handle interviews
- Represent the team
Mental Performance
Training includes:
- Visualization
- Pre-race routines
- Breathing
- Managing nerves
- Recovering from mistakes
- Race-day focus
- Confidence without arrogance

- Race strategy
- Pace management
- Advanced passing
- Starts
- Long-distance preparation
- Race simulation
- Data/video analysis
- Bike/ATV setup
- Tire selection

Rider Leadership Requirement
Every Junior Elite rider should eventually be able to explain:
“Here’s what I’m doing, why I’m doing it, and what I’m trying to improve.”
That is the transition from being coached to becoming coachable.
