Riders watch everything.

They notice:

  • How you talk about officials.
  • How you treat competitors.
  • How you respond to losing.
  • How you respond to winning.
  • How you treat volunteers.
  • How you talk about other riders.
  • How you handle frustration.

If we want riders to show respect, parents must demonstrate respect.

The standard is simple:

Don’t ask your rider to demonstrate behavior you aren’t willing to demonstrate yourself.
